After 90 years of unanswered prayers
Finally got to meet the lord herself
And recite the script I’ve been rehearsing
It’s a funny story man,
This dude who liked some films I’m in
Became an asshole with a rocket ship
I strap in

blast into space!

As the majesty of earth faded behind me
I Entered the heavens, the barren kingdom of the gods
A facade faded to nothingness
Walked into an endless expanse
Just a woman at a woman at a desk
I ask
“Is this all life is; to be a product
To work and toil away for
An unknown promise of eternal pleasure
And an end to suffering?
But if all that’s up here
Is emptiness, the desolation of space
I ask, what’s the purpose of the struggle, stress, and anxiety?
There’s got to be meaning!”

She laughed in my face.

I’ve heard prayers for 90 years, I’m well aware
But, it’s not my department. I’m not paid to care.
You see these worlds that I create?
I only build; I don’t maintain
The mess you’re in is the mess you’ve made
I’ll be clear:
Your problems are not my problems
And if that’s all sir, good day.

“I saw a cold, dark, black emptiness. It was unlike any blackness you can see or feel on Earth. It was deep, enveloping, all-encompassing. I turned back toward the light of home. I could see the curvature of Earth, the beige of the desert, the white of the clouds and the blue of the sky. It was life. Nurturing, sustaining, life. Mother Earth. Gaia. And I was leaving her….

Everything I had thought was wrong.”
